Ladysmith KZN: Suspected stock thief granted bail

The accused was located in the Limehill area and placed under arrest

Nkosinathi Mahlaba/Mbatha (43) appeared before the Ekuvukeni Magistrate’s Court on August 10 for stock theft. He was granted bail of R1500 and the matter was adjourned to September 1. 

His arrest follows a case that was opened at Ekuvukeni SAPS on August 8.

The complainant alleged that on August 7, he went to check on his livestock on a farm in Ekuvukeni and noticed that two head of cattle were missing.

He checked everywhere but could not find the missing animals. A case of stock theft was opened at Ekuvukeni SAPS.

The docket was transferred to the Ladysmith Stock Theft Unit for further investigation.

On August 9, Ladysmith Stock Theft Unit officers received information pertaining to the case and the accused was located in the Limehill area of Ladysmith.

He was found with stolen cattle and placed under arrest.
