Vryheid KZN: MTB riders celebrate Women’s Day with various rides

The men had to ride at the ladies' pace

In the spirit of Women’s Day, Vryheid Mountain Bike Club took various rides around Vryheid over the weekend and focused on including the lady riders in long endurance riding and a shorter introduction to mountain bike rides. On Saturday, the group took a long 100km cycle on the Vryheid district roads and on this ride, the men had to ride at the ladies’ pace! Thank you, guys, for sticking with the ladies and encouraging them on this long tour. What a privilege to ride on the safer mountain bike routes, accompanied by the men cyclists! Early Saturday morning, they took on the Skurweberg route, cycling up to Strathcona, back to the Teacup and the out past the ‘Varkplaas’ (pig farm). Stopping at the Wimpy / Engen for refreshments at 55km, the riders continued on their journey round again past the Teacup, taking their distance to 100km. Well done to everyone who cycled. On Sunday, they took another ladies’ ride; this one slower and shorter, geared for the beginner lady riders. So instead of Women’s Day, we had a ‘Women’s Weekend’ that was very special.
