DUNDEE KZN: The day the golf club turned pink

Oom Okkie's day is played on Womens Day

On Monday, 43 golfers, including some ebullient non-golfers, took to the greens to celebrate the life of Oom Okkie Weber in the annual ‘Pink Golf Day’.

Oom Okkie was a well-respected gentleman and his presence both on and off the golf course has left many memories since his passing.

The ladies’ section at Dundee Country Club has continued with the memorial in his honour. The ladies’ section would like to thank all the golfers and non-golfers for participating, and all those who sponsored prizes

. The winner of the day was Naomi van Huysteen, with Mark Nero flying the men’s flag high in second place. Hlengiwe Hlongwane was third.

As far as the novelty prizes were concerned, nearest the pins went to: no. 4 – B Jacobs, no. 12 – M Nero, and no. 16 – W Buizuidenhout. The longest drive prizes were won by: Kevin Donaldson (men) and Lorain de Wit (ladies). The club thanks Dreykon Klus Civils for their generous contribution in keeping the course in top shape!
