Ladysmith KZN: Gravel road for over 11 months?

"A driver could lose control, which could lead to an accident"

Residents in the Smartiesville area are frustrated with their roads not being tarred. According to a resident in Cornflower Road, the street is gravel, which makes it difficult for motorists to travel on.

One motorist said that, “Driving on loose gravel is harder than driving on pavement because your tyres don’t have the traction needed to give you stable control and a driver could lose control of his or her vehicle, which could lead to an accident.”

The resident added that she has contacted the municipality on numerous occasions and they keep on saying that ‘the road is scheduled to be tarred next week’. However, according to the resident, the road has been like that for over 11 months.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality was approached for a comment, but none had been received at the time of publishing this article.
