Ladysmith KZN: IMA lends a helping hand to restore vision

The oldest patient was 90 years old

On Saturday (July 31), the first batch of the 2021 cataract procedures were performed at La Verna Hospital as part of the Mandela Day initiative.

This was an invaluable exercise that helped to restore vision for those really in need.

Ophthalmologist Dr Asgar Sahib performed the procedures and each patient was extremely grateful.

The oldest patient was 90 years old!

Each patient was delighted to receive a gift bag.

The Islamic Medical Association (IMA) gives thanks to their partners in the programme – La Verna Hospital, Vertice Eyecare and the other sponsors – for making it a memorable occasion. “The second batch of procedures are set to be performed during Eye Care Week in October, Insha Allah,” said the IMA.
