Newcastle KZN: Three suspects arrested for business burglary

She explained that when the security officer arrived at the scene, he found three unknown males and copper cables nearby.

Newcastle detectives are looking into a burglary at a business premises that occurred on July 26 just before 01:00 at Arcelor Mittal.

According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer Lizzy Arumugam, three suspects aged 30, 27 and 27 were apprehended.

“The complainant claimed he was working as a security officer when he received a call from the control room, reporting that people had been seen in the business yard,” said Arumugam.

She explained that when the security officer arrived at the scene, he found three unknown males and copper cables nearby.

“When he looked around, he discovered that the corrugated iron was bent upwards to gain entry into the corrugated sheeted cage where copper cables are kept.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
