Ladysmith KZN: Zwane family receive kind Mandela Day gesture

The family has 14 members and all of them stay in a small, 1-room house

Councillor Khoza of Ward 14, together with the Duduza Care Centre, visited the Zwane family in Hobsland (under Burford) on Thursday (July 22) as part of the Mandela Day 67 minutes initiative. This family has 14 members and all of them stay in a small, one-room house.

Cllr Khoza said they saw the need to visit the family because of the situation in the household. There is no one working and all of them depend on social grants.

In addition, the elderly woman whom they all depend on is sickly.

“I, together with community member Mrs Masengemi and the Duduza Care Centre, decided to donate clothing and groceries. We are in the process, along with the Duduza Care Centre, of providing the family with decent shelter. We appeal to all other stakeholders and business people to lend a helping hand,” said Cllr Khoza.
