Ladysmith KZN: Residents clean up parts of Steadville

A number of community members were out and about, clearing the streets of broken glass and rocks

Steadville residents got together last week to clean up the area after all the destruction caused by the looters. Broken bottles and rocks were all over the road, as well as tons of litter.

Motorists have not been able to use Cemetery Road, which leads to Steadville, in fear of getting a puncture with all the glass lying in the roadway.

A number of community members were out and about, sweeping the streets.

A resident commented that, “It’s time for us to take a stand and fight against looting. If we join hands, we could make a difference, even if it means joining hands with the municipality to clean up our area.”

Another volunteer added that, “We live in this town, so we want to enjoy a clean and peaceful area, hence this much-needed clean-up campaign after all the mayhem.”
