NEWCASTLE KZN: Businesses re-open after a night of calm

Some taxi services have resumed and some shops are opening their doors, following a quiet Sunday night and Monday morning.

Despite messages circulating on social media indicating the unrest would continue overnight and into today, the situation remains calm thus far. However, community watch groups and law enforcers remain on guard and residents are urged to be vigilant. Business owners must also prepare to close at a moment’s notice.

Motorists are advised to drive cautiously, considerately and patiently, as shopping locations may become congested.
