NEWCASTLE KZN: Municipal rates hall to resume operations again

Once everything is 'back to normal', activities will gradually resume in other parts of the municipality.

According to a recent statement issued by the Newcastle Municipality’s Communications Unit, the rates hall (Murchison Street) will re-open tomorrow (July 16). Operating times will be from 8am to 3pm.

Once everything is ‘back to normal’, the statement explained, activities will gradually resume in other parts of the municipality and employees will resume duties on a gradual basis.

However, the municipality has emphasised that essential and emergency departments have not ceased operations and will continue to provide necessary services to keep the town running and safe.

“The waste and refuse collection schedule will also be published tomorrow,” read the statement.

Residents are still encouraged to use the municipality’s emergency lines for urgent matters, while those wishing to make payments are encouraged to do so via EFT or EasyPay.

“During these unprecedented and trying times, the municipality would like to continue to urge residents of Newcastle to remain united, steadfast and condemn looting. Let us save jobs, the local economy and people’s livelihoods.”
