Residents are advised to be extra cautious tomorrow as threats of a national shutdown do the rounds

Police are currently on scene in the Dundee area where protest action has broken out ahead of tomorrow’s planned shutdown.

Roads have been blocked with rocks and burning tyres near Helpmekaar and at the bridge exiting Dundee just past Dundee Secondary School. Reports have also come in of vehicles being stoned in the area.

Roads are also understood to have been blocked near Ingudlane Lodge.

Police have also confirmed that they are aware of posts doing the rounds regarding a shutdown of the town tomorrow. Colonel Nyide advised residents to be on high alert, as the situation could develop at short notice.
He also advised extreme caution if anyone was forced to travel in or out of Dundee for work or any other purpose. He encourage people to first confirm the safety of any given route in or out of Dundee before travelling.
