Ladysmith KZN: Covid-19 Delta variant now in KwaZulu-Natal

No fewer than 6 districts in the province have been found to be the epicentre of the new and deadlier Delta variant

On Wednesday (June 30), KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala confirmed that no fewer than six districts in the province have been found to be the epicentre of the new and deadlier Delta variant of the coronavirus (Covid-19). There is significant progress with the vaccination of senior citizens aged 60 and above, educators and healthcare workers who could not be vaccinated during the first phase.

As of June 28 this year, 416,967 senior citizens, 68,748 educators and 130,546 healthcare workers have been vaccinated.

The KwaZulu-Natal province also welcomed the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa that on July 5, 2021 (next Monday), the government will start the vaccination of police officers and other security personnel.
