VRYHEID KZN: Donors urged to bleed for the everyday battle

Please remember: one unit of blood can save up to three lives and donating only takes 30 minutes, four times a year

The need for blood has not slowed down and people still need transfusions in hospital. The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is grateful for every drop of blood donated by existing and new donors, and every day is a battle to satisfy the demand.  

Please remember: one unit of blood can save up to three lives and donating only takes 30 minutes, four times a year.

How can you become a blood donor? You must:

– Be between the ages of 16 and 75 years old;

– Weigh 50kg or more;

– Be in good health and lead a healthy lifestyle;

– Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient;

– Commit to donating blood regularly.

The SANBS will be in Vryheid on the following dates:

July 6 at Vryheid District Hospital from 10:00 until 15:00;
July 9 at Klipkerk from 11:00 until 18:00;
July 10 at PnP from 09:00 until 13:00;
July 22 at Niemeyer Memorial (Utrecht) from 10:00 until 15:00;
July 26 at AbaQulusi Private Hospital from 15:00 until 20:00;
July 31 at PnP from 09:00 until 13:00.
