Ladysmith KZN: ‘Streetlights on during the day’ concerns ratepayer

"Who is footing the electrical bill?"

Jennifer Rehman, who belongs to the Ratepayers’ Association, questions why the streetlights in certain parts of town are on during the day. She says that if the municipality saved electricity by turning off these streetlights that burn bright during the day, then maybe we would not have to face load-shedding.

Ms Rehman is fuming mad about this matter and questions who is footing the electrical bill. She says this is a burden to the ratepayers, as their back pockets are being drained. She wishes that electricity would not go to such waste for no reason.

“I drive around in residential areas and almost every area has lights burning during the day; even the CBD area,” said Ms Rehman.

“This is not just frustrating, but is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with!” she added.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality had not commented on the matter at the time of publishing this article.
