Ladysmith KZN: Vegetation in Smartiesville grows out of control

"We pay for rates and taxes, so I don't understand why there's no decent service delivery"

An angry resident of Smartiesville is up-in-arms over the state of the area. She says that the vegetation is growing out of control.

When she drives home and needs to turn into her street (Camelia Lane), she says it’s so difficult as she cannot see if there are any oncoming vehicles due to the long grass.

There was once an incident in which she almost crashed into an oncoming vehicle, as her line of sight was obstructed.

She claims to have contacted the municipality on numerous occasions, but has had no feedback or help.

She sometimes has to get a private garden service to cut the grass in the area.

“I am fed up, as the money has to come out of my pocket and I don’t think it’s fair. We pay our rates and taxes, so I don’t understand why service delivery is lacking.”

The municipality had not commented on the matter at the time of publishing this article.
