DUNDEE KZN: Stephan tells of night attack on lonely farm road

He managed to keep his cool and avoid further injury

A scary experience left Stephan Joubert battered on Saturday night after he was attacked by a group of men while driving home to the family farm in the Hattingspruit area.

Stephan was travelling alone, after visiting friends in Dundee, and while driving on the farm road, at about 10.20pm, saw five men on the road.

He attempted to swerve past them but as he did so, one of the men struck him with some kind of bar or stick. The blow bruised and cut open his face. He described as he drove on, stopped and fired several shots to ward off the men who then appear to flee.

He says he did not see a car and believes they fled on foot, perhaps to a waiting vehicle. He was treated for cuts and bruising and says he is grateful that he did not ”come off worse’.

The SAPS were informed. It was said that earlier in the day, a group of men were also seen trespassing on a neighbouring farm.
