WEENEN KZN: Mother and son become targets of armed robbers

Weenen police are investigating cases of armed robbery as well as attempted murder

A Weenen mother and son were lucky to escape with their lives after they were robbed by a pair of men in the Emaqaqeni area.

Police were called to the scene at about 7pm on May 11 and found that the woman had been robbed of cash and her son had been shot and injured.

It is alleged that when the mother and son got off a taxi, they were approached by two unknown suspects.

“The suspects pepper sprayed the victim before she was robbed of R3000. The suspects proceeded to shoot her son. He was transported to Estcourt Hospital for treatment,” commented police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi.

Weenen police are investigating cases of armed robbery as well as attempted murder.
