NEWCASTLE KZN: Municipality pleads with residents to report illegal dumping

Report illegal dumping to the municipality on 034 328 7726.

A combined effort between the Newcastle Municipality and several departments saw the clean up of two illegal dumping sites in Madadeni, Wards 22 and 28 recently.

According to Mlungisi Khumalo, Head of Communications for the municipality, the Waste Department, CWP workers, EPWP, Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs teamed up with Ward 29 councillor, Ally Khoza to affect change.

“This group continues to make commendable strides towards keeping our town clean. With refuse bags in hand, the team cleared two illegal dumping sites,” confirmed Khumalo.

On behalf of the municipality, Khumalo has pleased with the public to refrain from illegal dumping practices.

“Help us keep our town clean,” he urged.
