ESTCOURT KZN: Seven dead following fiery N3 crash (watch)

The ruins of a bus and tanker continue to fire up at the scene of a collision

The aftermath of a deadly crash on the N3 near Hidcote earlier this afternoon (May 10) has left seven people dead, three critically injured and 21 others sustained minor injuries.

At about 3.30pm, four vehicles, including a tipper truck and bakkie were part of this four vehicle crash.

According to a spokesperson from Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service Craig Botha, paramedics had difficulty in assessing the scene due to the dangerous flames.

“Once the fire was extinguished, emergency services sadly found seven patients that had been trapped in the bakkie and died in the fire,” said Mr Botha.

A massive backlog can be seen along the N3 as vehicles are re-routed to the R103 while fire fighters continue to battle the blaze.
