VRYHEID KZN: The ‘face of Vryheid’ left in disgust

The museum especially is in danger - a historical building that is irreplaceable

Editor – For any resident of Vryheid who cares about our town and is proud of our town, the area between the Information Office and the New Republic Museum is disgusting. This area is misused overnight by people sleeping there. The result is not only a lot of rubbish lying around – including condoms, which make it clear what kind of activities take place – but also creating a dangerous situation. Fire is made next to the wall of the museum – in front of the ventilation opening and close to the electrical box. This is a fire hazard. The museum especially is in danger – a historical building that is irreplaceable. Adding to this, these two buildings are the first place where visitors to our town stop for information about Abaqulusi. This makes it even worse. It seems as if neither the police service nor the municipality care! Gustav Röhrs (chairman – Vryheid Tourism) *The Vryheid Herald lodged an enquiry to AbaQulusi Local Municipality, but no response was received before going to print.
