VRYHEID KZN: Cell-phone tower batteries worth over R1 million recovered by police

Eight cell-phone tower batteries, with an estimated value of over R1 million, were recovered by local police on May 2. This after police intercepted a taxi on the R34, which was said to be transporting stolen goods. The SAPS was tipped off and an operation with various role players was put in place. Upon searching the vehicle, police also recovered house break-in implements such as bolt cutters, crowbars, grinders, five-pound hammers and other items. The batteries were stolen from the Nongoma area. Three suspects were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, as well as possession of house break-in implements.
