DUNDEE KZN: Foul effluent leak finally attended to

'Customers have refused to come our shops because of this disgusting situation'

Umzinyathi District Municipality officials have been dispatched to a major sewer leak, originating from near the corner of Smith and Victoria Streets.

Business owners in the area said the foul effluent had been running down the street for ‘some days’ and despite being reported, the leak was not attended to. They said customers were being put off to go into their shops.

On Sunday, fed-up business people called the Courier who in turned alerted the Service Delivery Forum. On Monday a team was sent out.

The leak appears to be coming from behind a row of shops on Smith Street and includes human excrement.
