DUNDEE KZN: League shooting continues with a bang

35 shooters attended a league shoot in Dundee

2020 was a very quiet year for the shooting sport due to Covid-19, but things are back to normal in 2021, with strict regulations in place – as prescribed by the South African Practical Shooting Association (SAPSA).

This past Saturday, 35 shooters attended a league shoot in Dundee, with the six stages proving to be a real challenge to young and old alike.

Malesha Ragunanan from Buffalo Club Newcastle, shooting stage 6.

The results are as follows: Best shooter of the day – Vince Mortlock from Buffalo Club Newcastle. Best lady shooter of the day – Kajal Ragunanan from Buffalo Club Newcastle.

Best Alwynkop shooters were – Chris de Jager (1), Kobus Louw (2) and Daniel du Plessis (3).

The league was also attended by Andre van Straaten. Andre has represented the South African National Team since the 80s on more than one occasion, and is still showing the young shooters how to shoot fast and accurate.

“The handgun shooting sport is really growing in Dundee at Alwynkop Club and the fact that families can participate makes it a healthy activity on a Saturday. Safety and discipline might not be everybody’s ‘cup of tea’, but SAPSA members just love it.

Alwynkop members are also keen participants of the Three Gun activity, where you get to shoot with a rifle, shotgun and pistol in one stage,” a statement from the club read.
