NEWCASTLE KZN: Newcastle Municipality launches AARTO Friday campaign

Motorists are encouraged to take advantage of the free various service offerings that will be provided today at the Farmers Hall.

The Newcastle Local Municipality, in collaboration with Road Traffice Infringement Agency (RTIA) and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, launched an activation campaign for the Administrative Adjudication of Road Traffic Offences (AARTO) Friday today (April 30).

The stakeholders involved dispersed to various shopping centers throughout the town and the Taxi Rank yesterday, to distribute pamphlets containing information about AARTO campaign.

According to the municipality, the goal of this campaign was to generate excitement for AARTO Friday in Newcastle.

It was also to promote the rollout of the campaign within KwaZulu-Natal, which will officially launch on July 1.

“AARTO is an Act that establishes a system in which a person, operator, or company juristic person pays the penalty and accrues points when a traffic infringement occurs,” explained Mlungisi Khumalo, Head of Communications for the municipality.

“Today’s campaign aims to assist road users with their AARTO infringement status and to provide advice based on the available legislated elective options to those who have infringements that may prevent them from renewing either their driver’s license or vehicle license.”

Motorists are encouraged to take advantage of the free various service offerings that will be provided today (April 30) from 8am at the Farmers Hall.
