Three people were slightly injured after a Mercedes and a bakkie collided at the intersection of Drakensberg Drive and Allen Street shortly before midnight last night (April 14).
An unofficial source at the scene alleged that both drivers were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
“One of the drivers was only 17 years old and was unable to provide a valid driver’s license,” claimed the source.
Three patients were treated at the scene for minor injuries before a passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment of a possible broken pinkie finger.
The source concluded, “Both drivers were arrested and taken into police custody.”
Despite the fact that the circumstances surrounding the crash are still unknown, police investigations will continue.
Newcastle Police have yet to comment further on the matter.
