DUNDEE KZN: DHS aims to inspire learners to read

As Sidney Sheldon says: 'Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. It opens up windows to the world and inspires us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life. Libraries change lives for the better'.

Dundee High School congratulates Sarel Cilliers on their recent library revamp. It is heartwarming to know that there are still schools that invest in a library! So many schools do not have the privilege that our learners have. As Sidney Sheldon says: ‘Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination.

It opens up windows to the world and inspires us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life. Libraries change lives for the better’.

Dundee High School is also very privileged to have a library like ours and have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities such as six computers and full Internet for research, printing and copying in colour, reading, working, or just relaxing on the couches available. DHS encourages learners to read 10 books, give a good review of each book they read, and then they receive a very nice ‘Reading Excellence’ badge.

There is a proactive media prefect team that assists any learner who visits the library. “We want to emphasise how important it is to READ.

We must never underestimate the importance of books and reading, because books transport you into new worlds and introduce you to amazing people who lived exciting lives. Parents / grandparents, please encourage your children to read, because a child that reads will be an adult who thinks.

To all our learners, Albert Einstein said: ‘The only thing that you absolutely have to know is the location of the library’. You don’t have to look far to find treasures. You can discover them in the Dundee High School library every time you visit us.”
