Ladysmith KZN: Free-roaming cattle a problem in Bengal Road

"Who do the cows belong to and why are they walking around so freely?"

A resident of Bengal Road is up-in-arms about cattle that are always roaming around in the street.

He wants to know who the animals belong to and why they are allowed to make a nuisance of themselves as they wander freely around the neighbourhood.

The angry resident fumes that “these cows come almost every day and eat all my vegetation!”

Due to the fact that his property does not have gates, he can’t plant anything or keep his garden safe as the livestock just wander in, walk all over everything and eat the plants.

Another problem, according to the fed-up resident, is that the roaming cattle wreak havoc with traffic in the road. Last week, he claims that a motor vehicle nearly crashed into a massive cow.

At the time of publishing, Alfred Duma Local Municipality spokesperson Siya Maphalala commented that he is still in liaison with the relevant municipal officials responsible for law enforcement with regards to this issue.
