Tragic news this morning is the passing of Well Church’s Pastor, Andre Swanepoel.
Up until his death, Andre was in a critical condition at a hospital in Johannesburg, after a suspected tick bite last month. Medical experts have ruled out the possibility of a spider bite being to blame.
“Dis van oggend met ‘n swaar gemoed wat ek die nuus met julle moet deel – ons maat en broer en leier is op na ons Hemelse Vader toe,” read a post on the Well Church Facebook page this morning. [Translated: Our friend, brother and leader has been called to join the Heavenly Father].
The page is run by Japie van Reenen, whose wife, Gerda thanked the community for their prayers. Residents are asked to respect Andre’s family by giving them space to grieve.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to his family and wishes them strength during this time.
