Ladysmith KZN: 2 men nabbed with hijacked vehicle

Two suspected carjackers have been arrested and are set to appear in court today (April 1).

This after a Bergville man was hijacked at his residence by two men on Thursday, March 25.

It is alleged by the complainant that at about 6am on the morning in question, he parked his vehicle outside his place of residence in Bergville and was approached by two unknown men.

The suspects demanded his car keys at gunpoint. They took the keys and a TV set before fleeing in the complainant’s vehicle. Charges of carjacking and robbery were opened for investigation by Bergville SAPS.

Yesterday (March 31), the Ladysmith Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit – as well as Bergville and Winterton SAPS, and a private security company – followed up on information regarding a hijacked vehicle. The vehicle was spotted on the Loskop road and the team wasted no time in heading out to the scene.

Two suspects, aged 20 and 31, were arrested. They are set to appear before the Bergville Magistrate’s Court today (April 1).

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya, congratulated the team for the arrest of the suspected carjackers.
