VRYHEID KZN: Reign of terror comes to an end as police nab robbers/rapists

They were charged with four counts of rape, five counts of robbery and two burglary cases

The Ulundi Trio Task Team finally managed to nab two suspects who have been terrorizing the community of Mbhoshongweni in Ulundi since January this year. The two men have been breaking into people’s houses, robbing and raping their victims, and threatening them at knife-point. The men targeted people who were living alone and who visited Ulundi for work purposes.

The task team arrested the hardened criminals while they were in hiding in the Mkhazane area of Ulundi. They were found in possession of stolen property and both men were identified by their victims. They were charged with four counts of rape, five counts of robbery and two burglary cases, and will remain in custody until April 6.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner for KwaZulu-Natal, Major General Thulani Gonya, congratulated the task team on the successful arrests. “Criminals should not think they can get away with crime in this province. We hope the victims will find peace in the knowledge that the suspects will now face the music,” he said.
