The victim of yesterday’s killing on the N11, near the Durnacol turn-off, has been identified as Newcastle resident, Graham Gibson.
While initial reports suggested Graham was shot, it has since been confirmed he was in fact stabbed more than once.
Graham’s wife, Jeannie spoke to the Newcastle Advertiser this afternoon and says the senseless killing of her husband has left the family in shock and with many questions.
The motive for the stabbing is unclear at this stage – Jeannie says Graham’s cell phone, wallet and tablet were left behind in his bakkie, which was left abandoned at the roadside.
Official response regarding the case is being awaited from SAPS Dannhauser at this stage. However, investigations are said to be underway to piece the crime together.
The Newcastle Advertiser extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Graham.
