Ladysmith KZN: Chaos in Calendula Avenue as pipes burst

Both pipes were attended to by uThukela workers

Two burst pipes in Calendula Avenue caused chaos for residents on Tuesday (March 23), leaving families in the area without water.

The first leak happened early in the morning and when that was fixed, a second pipe burst in the same street.

Both pipes were attended to by uThukela workers, with water supply being restored to the area.

However, after the repairs, massive holes were left in the roadway where the workers were digging.

Councillor Abbas Warasally said he was disappointed that the one leak was left unattended for almost 10 hours, and now the roadway as well as people’s driveways are “in a state” after repairs were carried out.
