DUNDEE KZN: When last did you go to a drive-in cinema?

Dundee High will host a Drive-In Cinema evening at the school!

It is doubtful that anyone under 35 has been to a drive-in cinema. These were all the rage in the 1970s and probably into the 1980s, and many locals (older ones) still have fond memories of a night out at Sten Drive-In, Hattingspruit, which is now an informal settlement.

With the advent of satellite dishes, YouTube and more, Drive-Ins (in South Africa) are about as rare as a rhino. But that will all change on April 16 when Dundee High hosts a Drive-In Cinema evening at the school!

Due to Covid restrictions and limitations, the head prefects decided to take the initiative and create a bit of fun for our town. They will host a drive-in cinema evening where families can enjoy a night out at DHS.

“We are all craving some excitement and it is nice to see that difficult times enhance creativity and inspire innovation. Simply phone the school to book your spot. The fun starts at 5pm, when the gates open, and gates close at 6.30pm. Tickets are R170 for VIP and R120 for standard tickets,” said DHS’s Natasha du Plessis.
