On March 11, Drakensberg Secondary School held its Annual Speech & Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the achievements of the 2020 academic year.
Owing to the pandemic, a scaled-down ceremony was held, where only learners and staff were present. All Covid-19 protocols were observed in conducting the ceremony.
The two learners who excelled the most in the 2020 National Senior Certificate Examinations were Charlaine Freeman and Yalka Rajkumar. They both secured seven distinctions.
Yalka Rajkumar was the recipient of the coveted Dux award. In addition to her seven distinctions, she earned the highest mark in Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science and Accounting.
The top achievers in other grades are as follows: Grade 8 – Tiara Chandar; Grade 9 – Pranav Sewraj; Grade 10 – Ria Roy; Grade 11 – Priyanka Naidoo.
The learners were commended for their performance and encouraged to strive to improve. Drakensberg Secondary School thanks all stakeholders for their continued support.
