NEWCASTLE KZN: Volkies take a step back in time

Volkies teachers and learners take a step back in time.

The dynamic Executive Committee at Volksrust High School came up with a great idea for a civvie day theme once again – Back in Time.

The best aspect, according to Nardos Mesfin, a Grade 8 student, was that not only the learner, but also the teachers, were transported back in time with their distinctive attire.

Teachers, she said, proudly wore their old Volkie’s uniform as if returning to school.

They also played a game of 30 Seconds in order to develop their Afrikaans skills.

“I was astonished to see some educators wearing their old blazers, which were covered in scrolls and badges,” Mesfin said. “I’m so excited to put on my blazer and all of my badges to become an official Volkie,” said the ambitious pupil.
