Ladysmith KZN: Front-line workers get their Covid-19 ‘jabs’ in town

There is a verification centre, screening and also an emergency room in case someone has an adverse reaction to the vaccine

Front-line workers in Ladysmith and the entire Uthukela District can now get the Covid-19 vaccine right here in Ladysmith.

That’s because Ladysmith Regional Hospital is now a vaccine site in the district.

On Tuesday (March 16) morning, hundreds of doctors, nurses and other front-line workers got their ‘shot’ of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Speaking to acting hospital CEO Dr ME Pule, he said, “We are excited to have the vaccine centre in Ladysmith and for the entire district. On the first day, we aimed to vaccinate 350 front-line workers. Everything went smoothly on the day.”

There is a verification centre, screening and also an emergency room in case someone has an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Speaking to the doctors and nurses, they all say they are excited about the vaccine, as they now have some protection against Covid-19.

Their message is that people must not be scared to go to hospitals for treatment.

Staff members from Wimpy (at Ted’s Convenience Centre) were also at the vaccine station to provide a hot cup of coffee to all the front-line workers receiving their vaccine.
