VRYHEID KZN: Vryheid blood donors keep on giving

The SANBS will be in Vryheid on the following dates: - March 20 at PnP from 9am until 1pm. - March 27 at PnP from 9am until 1pm.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) was visited by 67 donors on Friday and Saturday, which in turn could save over 200 lives out there. Donor Relations Practitioner Shavani Sewpaul is very pleased with the turnout and says that donating blood is the gift that keeps on giving. Donors are reminded about the ‘Text A Friend’ promotion where they can win a three-night stay for two, as well as a grocery voucher and a petrol voucher. How to enter? Send a message to a friend while donating blood and challenge them to also donate. When the friend accepts the challenge and donates too during the month of March, they earn an entry as well.

Donors can ‘text a friend’ until March 31 and this is exclusive to donors in Northern KwaZulu-Natal. The lucky draw will take place on April 1.

One unit of blood can save up to three lives and donating only takes 30 minutes, four times a year.

To become a blood donor, you must:

– Be between the ages of 16 and 75 years old;

– Weigh 50kg or more;

– Be in good health and lead a healthy lifestyle;

– Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient;

– Commit to donating blood regularly. T
