VRYHEID KZN: ‘Rendezvous’ between official and inmate at Ncome Correctional Centre described as “shameful”
The department has appealed to those in possession of the video to stop distributing it
A video has been circulating on various social media platforms, revealing sexual activities between a female Ncome Correctional Centre official and a male offender. The incident allegedly occurred in her office at the Centre.
Singabakho Nxumalo, Director of Communications with the Department of Correctional Services, said in a statement that the department is ‘appalled, embarrassed and gutted’, and that sexual activities between inmates and Correctional officials are ‘shameful’. “The official has been identified and she will be subjected to a disciplinary process with immediate effect. Disciplinary action will also be taken against the inmate.
The department expects its officials to abide by a Code of Conduct, and acts of a sexual nature will never be tolerated,” Mr Nxumalo said. The department has appealed to those in possession of the video to ‘refrain from distributing it any further’.
