Ladysmith KZN: Proactive Colenso community takes on service delivery issues

Massive potholes in George Street have made driving along that stretch of road incredibly difficult

Many Colenso residents feel they are now the “forgotten town” next to Ladysmith, with absolutely no service delivery issues being sorted out in the area.

The people of the town feel that both municipalities have no interest in them, with everything just falling apart.

However, there is some light at the end of the tunnel, as a team from the Community Response Unit (CRU) took the issue of road repairs into their own hands on Sunday (March 7).

Massive potholes in George Street have made driving along this stretch of road difficult to say the least, and something had to be done.

CRU members Johannes de Jager, Quintus Eckley and Rajesh Maharaj busied themselves from the morning until the evening fixing the potholes themselves.

The team from CRU would like to thank PK Hardware for sponsoring them with cement, which they used to fill up the gaping holes in the road that the municipality has failed to fix.
