DUNDEE KZN: Grade 8s now fully ‘orientated’ at DHS

The first two weeks were filled with tours of the school, prefect guides and teacher introductions.

Excitement at gala

DHS hosted its annual swimming gala on Thursday, and it was a huge success! It was lovely seeing all the youngsters taking part and doing what they love. The sound of the starter pistol, free-styling swimmers in the water and resounding cheers from the other contestants was soaked up by everyone who could enjoy a day in the sun again. The school congratulates Mr Ayob, Miss van Eeden and their team of dedicated organisers for making this day an absolute success. Results and records will follow in next week’s edition.

Grade 8 orientation comes to an end

It was a challenging task to help the Grade 8s become a part of the DHS family. Due to Covid regulations, they only attend school every second day and with no assemblies to help them become ‘a part of us’, the prefects decided to take a different approach.

The first two weeks were filled with tours of the school, prefect guides and teacher introductions. Learners were taught the school song and last week Friday, they were able to sing it for everyone from the quad. It was an absolute pleasure hearing their beautiful voices echo through the school.

After a year of not hearing the school song, it was even more special this time around. Teachers and other learners stood in the corridors to watch the Grade 8s complete their final task of orientation. DHS is excited to see what these innovative and ambitious young scholars will produce in the school environment!
