NEWCASTLE KZN: Municipal Community Safety office closed after positive Covid-19 case

The Administration section will be closed temporarily from today (March 10) and will re-open tomorrow.

The Newcastle Municipality’s Community Safety Administration Section has been temporarily closed after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

This was confirmed by Mlungisi Khumalo, Head of Communications for the municipality.

“The employee is currently in isolation and the Administration block has been closed until the necessary disinfection and decontamination measures have been conducted,” said Khumalo.

“Employees who have been in contact with the infected staff member have been advised to undergo testing and self-isolation.”

As a precautionary measure to ascertain the extent of the risk of exposure of other employees, the Administration section will be closed temporarily from today (March 10) and will re-open tomorrow (March 11) after the necessary precautions and hygiene protocols have been adhered to.

“The municipality wished the infected staff member a speedy recovery. The Community Safety Call Centre will remain open,” concluded Khumalo.
