VRYHEID KZN: Shavathon with a difference

You can also donate a ponytail to make a wig for a cancer patient

The popular event that sees people dying their hair or having it all shaved off will be spread out over March and will include innovative and creative ways of staying safe, with ideas like: – Getting a spray bottle at the Vryheid Herald (R25 per bottle) and spraying your hair at home; – Shavathon in a box: Hand in a donation at the Vryheid Herald; or – Shave your hair at R50 for adults and R25 for children at Skindeep (corner of Utrecht and Emmett streets). For further information, contact 083-771-5487. You can also donate a ponytail to make a wig for a cancer patient – place it in a zipper bag and deliver to the Vryheid Herald offices. Maria Scholtz, Cansa’s head of sustainability, said: “We’ve decided to do things differently this year. However, we’re mindful of the safety of the public. The public are encouraged to share their pictures on social media with the hashtag #CANSAShavathon and #CANSA90.”
