Ladysmith KZN: Shoes for needy ‘souls’ who are without

On Friday, the Caring Brother Foundation visited various schools in the Ladysmith area and donated about 100 pairs of school shoes to needy learners

A pair of shoes is a most basic need and one we all take for granted. An organisation for men knows and understands this very well, and has done something about the fact that many poor ‘souls’ do not have shoes for the soles of their feet.

On Friday (February 26), the Caring Brother Foundation visited various schools in the Ladysmith area and donated about 100 pairs of school shoes to needy learners.

Speaking to foundation chairperson Siboniso Kumalo, he said that 40 pairs of shoes were donated at Mnambithi Primary School, 30 pairs at Welelani Primary School and another 30 at Blue Bank Primary School.

“With this back-to-school campaign, we want to communicate our position that men are not trash. We can actually bring a smile to someone’s face. Nowadays, men are only associated with violence and seen as animals. With this initiative, we want to say that there are still men who care and want to see young children prosper.”

Mr Kumalo said that, in this campaign, they worked closely with Mr Jabulisa ‘JB’ Mchunu (chairperson of COSAS in KZN), who encouraged organisations and companies to give back to the community by assisting needy children.
