ESTCOURT KZN: More promises of pothole patching and road repairs

The plan indicates that potholes in streets like Keate, Harding, Alexandra and Alfred should have been attended to

Another ambitious plan for pothole patching and road repairs has been submitted by Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality after a request for feedback about this service delivery concern that is a bane for motorists.

In its latest monthly plan, the municipality, on paper, has resolved to repair roads and clean up a large area in the central business district (CBD), as well as in Wembezi.

According to the plan, roads and gutters in the CBD streets have been repaired and cleaned up since February 1, concluding on February 26.

The plan indicates that potholes in streets like Keate, Harding, Alexandra and Alfred should have been attended to.
The reality of the situation, however, paints a different picture, as road damage is still evident.

The local municipality’s attempt to repair the potholes in Connor Street earlier this year is also starting to crack.

When asked why this happened and when it would be corrected, municipal manager Patrick Mkhize did not respond.

In Wembezi, a similar plan is in place, with focus on road repairs, concrete works and road grading.

“Please be mindful that the weather may affect the schedule, as we are experiencing too much rain these days,” said Mr Mkhize.
