Today officially marks 25 years since the launch of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, video games which would so go on to define a generation.
Since then Pokémon, also known as Pocket Monsters, has expanded into other media outlets such as movies, series, toys, comics and trading cards among other things.
The song for the original series is unforgettable and incase you did forget, you can sing along below.

Pokémon has since become the highest-grossing media franchise of all time. The original video game series is the second-best-selling video game franchise (behind Nintendo’s Mario franchise).
While Pokémon always had a huge fan base thanks to a loyal following, in 2016, with the launch of Pokémon GO, their fan base grew exponentially.
And thanks to the popularity of Pikachu, many people around the world can at least know one Pokémon’s name.
