Ladysmith KZN: Latest dam levels after all the rain

Spioenkop Dam is on 100.6%

With rain bucketing down over the last few weeks in the Ladysmith area, you would imagine that the dams would be overflowing.

And you know what? They are indeed! Dams in the area are currently full to the brim.

Spioenkop, Woodstock and Wagendrift dams are all over the 100% mark – being on 100.6%, 101.6% and 102.3% respectively.

Driel Barrage is on 88.1%.

The lowest dam in the KZN region is Albert Falls on 46%. But bear in mind that Albert Falls is the largest dam in KwaZulu-Natal, with a storage capacity of 290 million cubic metres. This dam is increasing by approximately 1% weekly as a result of overflows from Midmar Dam upstream, good rains in its catchment area and strong run-off.
