Ladysmith KZN: Shooting claims man’s life in Umhlumayo

20 rifle cartridges were picked up at the crime scene

A shooting yesterday afternoon (February 20) in the KwaSathane area of Umhlumayo claimed the life of a man who is believed to be 34 or 35 years of age.

Four people were travelling in a white Toyota Avanza with GP registration when unknown gunmen opened fire on the vehicle, fatally wounding one of the occupants.

The other occupants all sustained gunshot wounds.

According to police spokesperson Captain Bongani Nyathi, officers who attended the crime scene picked up 20 spent rifle cartridges.

“Police are investigating murder and attempted murder cases, and the suspects are still at large,” added Captain Nyathi.
