Ladysmith KZN: Camping, fishing go hand-in-hand out at the dam

The group of avid fishermen and -woman made sure they reeled in some real whoppers

Fishing is something that takes you to a whole other world and makes you feel that nothing else matters when you’re out on the banks of the dam, waiting for your line to peel out from the drag.

Leon Ramparsad, Renika Ramparsad and their son Adit, along with Sheldon Ramdin and Trevern Naidoo, had the pleasure of spending a night out at Spioenkop Dam to do some fishing recently.

“Setting up your rods and spending a night at the dam is magical. There’s no better way to enjoy your time at the dam than casting in bait and landing some great catches!” they enthused.

The group of avid fishermen and -woman made sure they reeled in some real whoppers too.

Their bait of choice was floaties, and their secret dips had the fish ‘going crazy’.

Young Trevern Naidoo was after some barbel during the trip. Using a small carp head as bait, he managed to land himself a 2kg barbel which definitely put a smile on his face.

For the fishermen, it was not only about the fishing but about having a great time out, making memories with the family, and being one with nature. Before they knew it, they were packing up their tackle and heading back to Ladysmith. But one thing is for sure, they enjoyed every moment doing what they love, ie fishing.
