VRYHEID KZN: 53-year-old arrested for possession of Induna’s fiream

A 53-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Friday.
The arrest was as a result of an intelligence-driven operation conducted by officers attached to the Golela Development Task Team, together with the Ulundi Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Task Team, in the Mngwabe area.
The team followed up on information pertaining to an unlicensed firearm belonging to the late Induna Masotsha Khumalo, who died of natural causes. After his burial, it is alleged that a suspect came and took the firearm.
During the operation, a suspect (53) was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed .487 Musgrave hunting rifle with four live rounds of ammunition. The man was due to appear in the Nongoma Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
