Ladysmith KZN: Alfred Duma described as a forward thinker

"Mthombeni's demise has been felt near and far, shaking and shattering the province and the country alike"

Portfolio Committee on Health chairperson Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo has described the late Mr Alfred Duma (94) as a forward thinker.

“Alfred Duma was an uMkhonto We Sizwe  (MK) veteran who was disciplined and a forward thinker.”

Dr Dhlomo uttered these words while he was reading the obituary of the late Mr Duma at the funeral service which was held in Ezakheni B-Section on Tuesday (February 9).

KZN Premier Mr Sihle Zikalala, who also attended the funeral, described him as a humble man who loved jokes and seeing people happy.

“To say that the departure of Mthombeni has left us empty and drained would be an understatement. Our knees are knocking together, as we are unable to bear the pain we feel. Mthombeni’s demise has been felt near and far, shaking and shattering the province and the country alike. Grief-stricken as we are, we send our heartfelt condolences to the family for so heavy a loss. We pray that the Lord will bandage and heal their wounds and give them strength to face the future without their pillar of strength.”
